Visit of Senator Eamonn Coghlan
28th March 2014
On behalf of Celbridge Community Centre we extend a very warm welcome to Senator Eamonn Coghlan and to Maureen Abbott, Kildare Person of the Year 2014. We are delighted that Senator Eamonn Coghlan is here to launch our recently improved facilities at Celbridge Community Centre and Maureen Abbott will make a presentation of her history of Celbridge Mill to him.
Over the past fifteen months with the invaluable assistance of County Kildare Leader Partnership, Kildare County Council, H.S.E and the 2012 Sports Capital Programme, we have upgraded and re-energised various aspects of the Centre facilities and activities which in turn benefit the people of Celbridge and surrounding areas.
In December 2013 we completed the installation of a Junkers Hardwood Sports Hall Floor System. This popular type floor developed by Junkers Sports Solutions is imported from Denmark and facilitates all our indoor Sports. The cushioned timber floor helps alleviate injuries through its unique style it offers safety, reliability and confidence. Walls and ceiling were all redecorated.
With the help of the County Kildare Leader Partnership we purchased Gym equipment, Exercise Bikes, Treadmills, Cross-trainers, Dumb-bells and Fitness Machines. These additional purchases greatly enhance the wide spectrum of Gym Fitness training available and keep the Centre right in line with modern fitness trends and competition. Mirrors an T.V channels, Free WIFI add to the ambience of the Centre experience. The purchase of additional Table-Tennis tables offer the opportunity of our present coaching sessions to flourish while a New Pool table and Fus Ball machine offer something for our children, teenagers and young adults.
The Department of Arts, Sports and Tourism Capital Project 2012 assisted us with the Purchase of 11 Spinning Bikes which offers another fitness choice to our clients. Sanding and varnishing of the original floor area was also supported by the Sports Capital Project in the Function Hall. This facilitates Judo, Irish Dancing, Bowls, Activity Camps and Performing Arts.
Celbridge Community Centre offers not only Sports but a wide range of Leisure and Recreational opportunities from Music, Dance, Drama, Art, Education, and Religion to Bridge, Whist and Archery.
Youger children and toddlers are accommodated in our Free Drop in Créche. Naoínra, Palyschools, Mother and Toddler Groups are in operation while older persons can avail of Free Gym at the Centre.
